We Build Bridges to People

The Bridge to Hope

Bridge of Hope

In 1987, Rev. Virginia E. Boley, PhD - better know as Sister Jenny - established a grassroots, not-for-profit, non-sectarian charitable organization called United Christian Ministries, Inc. This ministry is a hands-on ministry that required all program, service, and staff members to be flexible under guidelines of treating each person with compassion and understanding.

No day is "as usual" because it is for the people who have fallen through the cracks of society not only needing survival services but also the message that "We Care", and as they begin to stand on their own two feet, the kindness shown to them be passed on to others. "Service to God through service to each other... That is the true path of blessing."

Our staff are people of all ages and walks of life and are the backbone of this ministry - they are the ministry! All of our staff carries forth United Christian Ministries philosophy that all people should be treated with dignity, kindness, and as stated previously the message that: as a person someone cares and God loves them. This is done with "God's Love in Action", rather than words. The contribution of these valuable volunteers is like a puzzle - pieced together they are an integrated, dedicated team!

Under the umbrella of United Christian Ministries, Inc. facilities is a fostering ministry providing re-building and self-confidence such as: three transitional housing units; Kenner Court, Tioga PA as a residence for men, Garnet House, Osceola PA as a residence for women, and our newest, David's by the Lake, Lawrence Township, the two bedroom apartments providing another step forward to independent living for families and adults with children.

We are a ministry that lives among people with their constant changing needs and a ministry that experiences the pain, the beauty, and the blessings of life. United Christian Ministries constantly reminds itself that to seek and hear the voice of God it is not necessary to climb high, but "Go down and dwell among the people."
